ArtJournalEveryDayLogo-150If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here.  All of the previous posts can be found archived here.  There is a flickr group for sharing right here.  Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it.  If you've done some art journaling this week and you've blogged about it, or put it on flickr, please leave a link in the linky list at the end of this post.  Thanks!

Happy Friday!  Every good journal must come to an end.  Today I'm sharing the last few pages of my journal.  I have to confess that as I get towards the end of a journal I tend to get anxious to finish it and move on.  I think you can see that anxiety in my pages.

This is a page from my #inktober phase — that's when I fell in love with serif letter forms.

Serifs make hand lettering look finished in my opinion.

I'm on an ongoing mission to master painting faces from angles other than straight on.

2-GluePage-wm

This is a "Glue Page" — meaning I took all sorts of junk and glued it into my journal. I love to collect little bits and pieces of leftover art into my journal.  It means that they're never lost and that makes me happy!

You can see that use of black borders helps to unite all the disparate pieces.

3-LastPage-wm

And this is the final page in this art journal!

More serif lettering…

…plus a little painting from Matisse!  And now it's on to a new journal!  Yay!

  • Julie, I find you such an inspiration – you create art at the speed of light, and constantly. These are lovely spreads; your sense of fearlessness is evident throughout.

  • first of all — I love that you do these weekly linkups.. It is so motivating for me to complete art journal pages for the linkups each week!
Second– when I used to keep traditional written diaries in high school and college, I do remember that my longest posts were always the ones at the end of the diary as I was anxious to fill the pages and start over!
    Great post!

  • I felt a little sad when i saw the last page. It is not the end, it is just the beginning of a beautiful friendship :)Thank you for sharing your art journal pages. I love them, sometimes try to apply some of the ideas in my journals, too.

  • Booyah!! Hooray for finishing up a journal! I must admit that when the New Year rolls around I must start in a fresh book whether the last one is filled up or not. (Usually not, sometimes pretty close.) Cheers to you for a wonderful 2015! Looking forward to watching your mastery of angled faces unfold!
