So, let's say you're up at 3am watching TV…it's possible that you'll see me in a two-minute infomercial I recorded for the ScanNCut!  Eeeek!  Brother has placed the ad in a variety of markets, on various channels, at many different times of day, but I don't know the specifics.  (If you do see it, please let me know!)  If you'd like to see it on purpose (and without the bleary red eyes of staying up all night), you can check it out HERE.  Let me know what you think of it!

Hi there, it’s Terhi here to show the easiest and quickest three-step technique with Pan Pastels, stencils and baby-wipes. Thank you Julie for having me over – it’s a great pleasure!

First step:

To create a resist surface, add a thin layer of gesso or other medium to your paper. Any waterproof medium will do, I prefer clear gesso as it’s so light as makes smooth surface.

Second step:

Add PanPastels. In any color, through a stencil, or simply on their own.

Third step:

Set your stencil to its place and gently use baby-wipes to take the PanPastel color off. It creates nice negative shape.

Remember to use fixative, or hairspray like I do, to adhere PanPastels.

Easy, right? Here is how it looks on a finished art-journal spread.

If you you’ll try this technique, I’d love to see how it works for you – please come to tell me: http://tellimaria.blogspot.fi

Thank you again Julie, this was so much fun.

BrokenLine-forPOSTS TerhiKoskine_imageWho am I?

Scrapbook-artist. Mum. Wife. Terhi Koskinen. Friend. Sister. Daughter. Horsebackrider. Without order of importance. But mostly I'm an addicted paper crafter with lots of inspiration.

Scrapbooking is more than a hobby for me, it's a lifestyle – it's starts with photograph session and ends when I get my creation where I wanted. And then it starts again.

My creations are filled layers, straight lines, and techniques I want to try out. Mostly I do layouts (12" x 12"), but sometimes art journal pages, canvases, cards and other.

I've been very lucky to get myself in to several design teams, you can find all current and past design teams and my published pages here.

Lately I've done some tutorials too, hope you get inspired by them.

  • Julie,
I did see your ScanNCut infomercial over the weekend here in Houston, Tx. It was either on Hallmark or the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel. I was so surprised to see it “out of the blue”; your presentation was cheerful and relaxed.

  • Several things to say. First, it’s great to see the guest posts. So interesting to see all the different ways and techniques people are using with stencils. Second, thanks for all the amazing inspiration you provide with your blog. I read it every day and I am addicted. Love it and all the info. Third, I watched the Brother tv ad. You were very professional and poised. None of the hysteria that often accompanies tv infomercials. You did a great job. Very pleasant to watch.
