My Father recently came to town and we spent a lovely afternoon at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) together. Here we are posing with a painting that we both love:
That Van Gogh painting has inspired me for years. Remember my Van Gogh girl?

Everything about it is amazing to me and the fact is, it's so much better in person — as art almost always is!
We had a very good time visiting some old favorites (I adore Picasso):
And apparently so does everyone else…
We saw some new-to-us things we liked:
If they let you take things home with you from museums, this paper sculpture would have come home with me. So cool! I want to try making one of my own, but I'm a bit scared and intimidated. Can't lie. But it probably won't stop me from making a big 'ol mess and trying it out! :)
I know that it really looks like wood in the photo, but that is just paint. Pretty impressive skills don't you think?
We saw some things that we tried to like, but had trouble with:
I will say that I do like the shadows that this steel wool bridge casts.
As for this photo, it took me about seven tries but I finally managed to capture a person perfectly framed in the sculpture. Cool, right?
We did some people watching (which is one of my most favorite things in the whole world):
We sat outside in the sculpture garden for a while because, as they say, you ought to stop and smell the roses….
My favorite part of the day — well, actually there was a really tasty lunch in the cafeteria, so maybe my second favorite part of the day was seeing the Toulouse-Lautrec exhibit. Toulouse-Lautrec is best known for his gorgeous art nouveau advertising posters. I snapped a bajillion photos. The exhibit had a lot of his drawings which I thought were just fabulous. Here are my faves:
I think it's just so wonderful how he manages to capture so much emotion and movement with an economy of line. Just beautiful.

The VanGogh is truly one of my favorites and he painted several versions of his postman. His beard is so luxurious looking and the green is my favorite color.
