DeliPaperEggs-wm

I bought a bunch of plastic Easter eggs at the drug store.

And I transformed them into fabulous decoupaged Easter eggs!

It was super easy!  The only thing is that your fingers get covered in Matte Medium (so ignore my ugly fingers in the photos, please!).

First, tape up the seam for a smooth finished result.

Rip up some painted or printed deli paper and use Matte Medium to decoupage it on to the egg.

In no time at all, you'll have a collection of fabulous eggs!

Above you can see the first egg I did.  I didn't tape the seam and I think you can see the difference.

The best part is that while these eggs look delicate, you can drop them and they don't break!

  • I haven’t made the jump to gelli printing/deli paper … would tissue paper work? These are really pretty. Love your tutorials, always so thorough and makes me feel like I could actually do it!

  • Isn’t deli paper awesome. You’re the one who got me started with it at the class at Absolutely Everything. Love these eggs and yes, the seam taped looks much better.

  • Ok…I have a bag of those eggs somewhere and a pile of deli paper…wooooooohooooooooo!
I used to do this with Japanese Washi and those are very formal looking. Liking the more real collaged look.
    Thanks

  • These eggs are beautiful! I have been doing a similar project with kids I work with – I keep coming back to it year after year because the kids really love it and they want to do it again every year. To make it a little easier for kids we use fancy printed party napkins (separate them into one layer) and rip them up to decoupage, and Elmer’s glue mixed with water instead of matte medium. Before decoupaging I use a heated skewer to poke holes in the top of the eggs and tie in a ribbon for hanging.
