If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here. All of the previous posts can be found archived here. There is a flickr group for sharing right here. Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day! No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week and you've blogged about it, or put it on flickr, please leave a link in the linky list at the end of this post. Thanks!
Today I've got some daily art journal pages to share. These are from the end of December 2013 and the beginning of January 2014. Faces continue to be the biggest trend in my journal — and lots and lots of journaling, of course!
I continue my pursuit of faces that are interesting rather than pretty. This is a quick sketch I did with a marker and shaded with some blue and white paint.
I glued a couple of the skins that didn't work out into my art journal. To my surprise, even though they looked cloudy on the page protector, once I glued them down, they turned mostly clear! Pretty cool!
People always ask me what I use my gelli prints and deli paper for — well, you can see them right here in the colorful circles on this page!
Another face that is definitely not pretty. And another skin! Can you see it in the face?
And another skin here on the other side. Again, it was cloudy on the page protector, but it looks clear now!
I love mixing lots of materials together — here you've got painted and stenciled newspaper, washi tape, scrapbook paper, and some doodled copy paper.
This is an old face that I painted back in the summer of 2012. One of the things that I love about working in my junque journal is that I get to incorporate all of these old random bits of art! So much better having it in my journal than sitting in a drawer somewhere, you know?
I can't walk away from the white Sharpie. Love that thing!
I love the look of sgraffito. Been using it a lot these days.
The bats are a thermofax print I made for this blog post back in April 2013.
Here is this week's linky list:
Thanks for stopping by!

Your faces are getting a lot more expressive.
That man is down right intimidating.
The woman on red is blissful.
Keep’em coming.

Lovin’ your bold and expressive faces. The woman on red is just incredible. Thank you, Julie, for all you do to inspire and teach. I am happy to have you in the world, sharing and caring like you do.

Good stuff! I was reading about skins last night. Tempted to try my hand at them.

Love the faces!!! Wonderful journal pages!!!
What do you think of the Sharpie NOT BEING ACID FREE? In 10+ years, wherever it marked will have that yellow stain around it along with yellow marks on the opposite page that touched it. This is why I haven’t bought this.

Oh how powerful that daily journaling is… I’m right with ya babe! And I use pieces of my monoprints the same way: cut out pieces to use in my journal, on cards, on ATCs… with monoprints we never run out of beautiful backgrounds and detail-pieces of paper isn’t it?! Enjoy your weekend Julie!

Lots of different and expressive faces here. I like the gelii printed circles. I have been making Atc’s and tags with mine. Time to pull out the circle punch. I love finding new ways to do things. Thanks for the inspiration.

i so agree with you in regards to being able to include random bits of art and ‘daily life’ stuff within art journaling. it’s the best part as it makes one’s journal so very personal.
thank you Julie for hosting once again this inspiring link-up.
