Art Journal Every Day: End of September Pages

ArtJournalEveryDayLogo-150If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here.  All of the previous posts can be found archived here.  There is a flickr group for sharing right here.  Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it.  If you've done some art journaling this week and you've blogged about it, or put it on flickr, please leave a link in the linky list at the end of this post.  Thanks!

Today I'm sharing some more daily pages from my art journal.  I've been really into using markers (mostly Permapaques) instead of paint lately.  I don't know why.  I like that there's no waiting time for anything to dry and they seem so immediate and somehow less forgiving, which is a push I need.

This was an experiment of working on a face in a different style and at a different angle.  I love how it turned out!

2-AnatomySketch-wm

I gave the stamped letters a white shadow and it really makes them "pop."

2-Detail2-wm
This is a little bit of a Gelli Print that I couldn't bear to cover up.  I used my "Circles in Lines" stencil.

I liked the hand page that I did a few weeks ago so much that I did it again!  There's no reason not to steal an idea that you already love.  Each journal page is unique in its own way in any case.

4-Feathers-wm

A bit of fake calligraphy and my "4 Feathers" stencil.  You may recall that I showed the beginnings of this page in a video in this post last month.  Now you can see what it looks like when the page is complete!

I've been trying to get away from putting a face on every single page.  I managed to do it for the most part!  I like to keep experimenting and pushing myself to try new things. You never grow unless you do things that aren't 100% comfortable, right?

Here is this week's linky list:

Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. Kristal Norton wrote a very nice post about 10 different art journalers you should check out.

  • Love that fierce face! She’s a force to be reckoned with. And that writing (I’ve heard that before and had the same response) underneath the feathers. Really cool. I used to do my own fake calligraphy, makes me want to try again.

  • I recently purchased the feathers stencil and must play with it!
I admire how you push yourself with your art and try to take a lesson from it.

  • I love the commentary in your journal and the look of it. I’m always wary of writing about feminism in journals that I am going to publish online, but I enjoy the way you present them. Thanks for sharing, and the inspiration!
