Summer 2013 Stencils: Three Quarter & Profile

Header-sm
I designed two new face stencils for you!

You can watch the video to see how easy it is to make fabulous art with them!

Here are the two faces from the video:

Both were made using the 12×12 versions of the stencils.  I made these little canvas panels using the 6×6 versions of the stencils:

And here you can see the size comparison:

And, as I pointed out in the video, you can see that the stencils are completely reversible!  The faces can go either way.

Here are a few more examples using these two stencils, some of which you've seen, and some of which will be new!

So what do you think?  Are you as excited about these new face stencils as I am?  The next project I want to do is to decorate a tote bag or a t-shirt.  I think that would be super cool!

You can buy the new stencils at Blue Moon Scrapbooking:

You can also answer the following question to be entered to win the 6×6 and 12×12 versions of both the Profile and Three Quarter stencils:

What do you see yourself doing with these stencils?

Please leave your answer in the comments section of this blog in order to be entered to win.  I'll announce the winner on Monday!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • A lot of my work recently has been influenced by an Andy Warhol exhibition that I visited so I can see myself using your stencils to produce work that reflects that influence but also includes my own liking for “line” and strong bold colours. I can see many possibilities here!

  • Love this video! And I love these stencils….. I can’t draw so this is a perfect way for me to try to include faces in what I create. Typically, I make a lot of cards but I’ve be trying to branch out and learn new things. I am starting a journal and can see these stencils would be perfect for that.
I also have done a lot of fabric in the past so your idea of a putting a face on a tote bag is great!
Thanks so much for the give-away!

  • The stencils are fantastic and I would love to play with all of them. Definitely for journaling for me! Lots of layers, lots of background, then the face, and maybe altering the background again. Uh, oh, am I describing what YOU did with the stencils? Well, I would like to try them out that way first. I love the idea of the small canvases, too!
How generous of you to do this giveaway! Thanks!

I like the rich colors you use in faces, and the tattoo effect. I can really see me using the profile to make a super cool T-shirt…. Thank you, kath

  • These are the best face stencils ever anywhere! I can think of a dozen ways to use them but my first project would be a canvas tote with the 12 X 12..adding the name of one of my favorite C.S.Lewis books, ‘Til We Have Faces’.
Win or buy…I have to have these! Your work is awesome.

  • My five-year-old would love it if I made her some coloring pages with these stencils.she is really into women’s faces (make-up,eyes,etc..) I would love to use them in my 2014 Sketchbook Project submission in which I am using vintage photos of really happy and playful women. I think these stencils would be perfect to incorporate in my design.

  • Wow, the possibilities are endless! I’m thinking a series of small canvases using the 6×6 and using both sizes in my art journal. I really liked in the video how you used a background you’d already created and let that show through while painting around the edges in red to make it pop. I’m excited to try that!

  • I need another book to keep only Blazer design stencils. I love your new stencils! I am so impressed. What a great opportunity to offer a giveaway. I could see using the face stencils in a little girl’s room. If these stencils were available when my daughter was younger (she no longer lives at home), this would have made a great project to do together. Over the painted walls we would have stenciled faces on a couple of walls either in black, or red, or purple. That would make quite a statement and would still be cool during the teenage years. They can also be used on canvases to use in powder rooms, or dressing rooms, t- shirts. Could be used to empower girls. Girl Power. I also love the idea of an Andy Warhol look. So versatile these stencils.I would enjoy having these stencils. Thank you f or providing the opportunity for a few minutes of creative dreaming πŸ˜‰

  • I am especially drawn to the three quarter woman.
I would love to use her in my art journal as well as on a LO as a background. Your new stencils are just as exciting as the older ones. I’m going to need another cabinet just to hold stencils between you and Nat!

I’d like to print each face on deli paper (my new favorite surface), and collage them in my daily journal.

  • All of your stencils are beautiful, but these are exceptional! I’ve just started art journaling and would love to use these to jazz up my pages. Even to just use parts of the stencil, like the eyes and nose and then draw the rest on my own would help my limited drawing skills!

  • Art journaling, yes, but also I’d like to try these as parts of larger works. Maybe repeated several times on the canvas, but different treatments.

  • Hi Julie, Your stencils are a dream come true. I love your artistic style, especially the way you paint faces over a collaged background. I have given this a go myself, but there is nothing worse than getting the background perfect & then getting the proportions wrong or having one of the eyes a little wonky. These take the pressure off & make art fun again. Thankyou so much. I would use them for art journalling, canvases & notebook covers.

  • Howdy Julie,
I frequently use deli paper or wax paper in my altered books and art journals. So I see myself using the 3/4 face stencil on 3 different sheets – on one sheet with brown paint, another sheet with purple paint and another sheet with green paint. On each sheet I see myself doing gradations of each paint color. The translucency of the wax and deli papers works great as a layering technique in my work.
For the profile stencil I see myself using gold metallic paint on one sheet, white paint on another and silver metallic paint on a third sheet.
Enjoyed your video, as always. Especially the part where you talk about fixing things until you like them.
    Hope I win!
    Peace,
