I had a wonderful time teaching at Studio Crescendoh in Santa Ana, CA! It's a wonderful light-filled classroom space…
…run by the indomitable Jenny Doh.

Six amazing (and slightly blurry) women…
…spent two days with me. There were two Julies (and I make three)!
Julie #1:
I first spotted Julie standing on the curb outside the studio. I recognized her from the last class I taught at Studio Crescendoh (and the fact that she was surrounded by art supplies didn't hurt either). She is as talented as she is sweet and I loved that she incorporated prints she made in the 1970s into her junque journal!
Julie #2:
Julie is a teacher and craft industry vet brimming with knowledge about just about everything. She kept us amused with funny stories and silly anecdotes! After seeing her at CHA several times, I was delighted that she decided to take this class! She generously gifted each of us with a little mixed media treat!
Lynn:
Lynn was also in the class I taught last year and it was a pleasure to see her again. She had never painted flowers before and created some beautiful ones for her front cover! I love the Gelli Print she did for her back cover too, using my new "Cityscape" stencil. She made the mistake of sitting near me and so I teased her mercilessly all class long! ;)
Jackie:
Jackie was another repeat student and it was so wonderful to see her again! I harassed her wildly about being too hard on herself. She was not happy with the face she painted for her cover and I just have to disagree. I think it's stunning! She is very talented and doesn't give herself enough credit — something many of us suffer from, I think.
Robin:
Robin is wonderfully enthusiastic and full of energy and verve. She is an engineer and a wife and a Mom to two little ones and it was so fantastic that she was able to escape for the weekend and come and make art! She is a voracious learner and I so appreciate that!
Renee:
Renee has a wonderfully dry sense of humor, which I adore. I very much enjoyed learning all about vegan chicken from her — and even trying some. (It was pretty tasty.) She is über talented and almost everyone in the class (myself included) borrowed her "pod" motif.
As for Julie #3 (i.e. me), I managed to make a journal for myself during class…
…do lots of hands-on teaching and demos…

…including the big winner: creating seamless pattern stamps…
…as well as pose for lots of photos…

…and generally have an awesome time!

There is so much to love in those journals! And I can’t believe that woman didn’t like the woman on her cover. I love it. I love the vulnerability in it. We are all so hard on ourselves. That’s why we need a teacher to set us straight. I’m determined to take one of your classes in person one day.

Look at all of you having so much fun and the creativity was running very high those days. I think all of the ladies should be proud of what they made as it was very colorful and well done…even the flowers for the first time flower painter -Lynn-and face painter Jackie. Thanks again for such a fun class, it was nice to be small enough to get so much room to play, even though I kept loosing my tools 😉 when and where will be able to buy the rubber stamps you have designed? They look like you could do some great project life stuff with them.
