So many people asked about my wedding dress that I decided to share a bit about it. Please note that all photos in this post were taken by Glenn Livermore Photography.
The dress is a truly wonderful creation. I wish I could take credit for it, but I did absolutely nothing but put it on. It was made for me by a very talented woman who had a little shop down in Tribeca. The shop was called Zoolook. When I sat down to write this post I googled to find her website and discovered that she no longer exists. Very sad.
As you can see from the photos, the hem was tons and tons of little pieces of colored silk organza arranged in a sort of rainbow. Most of the pieces were square, but there were lots of little flowers fluttering on the hem as well.
My husband and I both wore sneakers, as did all the groomsmen.
The top of the dress featured one purple sleeve and one white, along with several small flowers caught between the two layers of fabric.
My bridesmaids (my Mom was the matron-of-honor) each wore a dress of their own choosing in one of the colors from my dress hem.
I loved having a dress that wasn't a cookie cutter wedding dress. It's amazing up close and just as lovely from far away!
I wasn't as involved with crafting back then as I am now. Nowadays I'd probably have the courage to do the dress myself. I guess I'll just have to wait until my next wedding to paint up a dress to wear! ;)

About 3am I woke up and thought”If you dated him 10 years, were you in elementary school when you met him!!!! I thought you were like 23…The dress looks like something you created so it NEVER occurred to me you didn’t. It’s a scrapbook page on it’s own. Gorgeous! And you get so many comments because you are changing so many lives!!

Eventually I was purging when we were moving house and onlly saved the front panel of the dress (my hubby isn’t sentimental) but I do kinda wish I’d saved it… Maybe re-made something else out of it as ot was raw silk fabric but never mind.
