ArtJournalEveryDayLogo-150If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here.  All of the previous posts can be found archived here.  There is a flickr group for sharing right here.  Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it.  If you've done some art journaling this week and you've blogged about it, or put it on flickr, please leave a link in the linky list at the end of this post.  Thanks!

I'm sharing some more of my daily pages with you today.  The journal I'm working in is one that I made from already painted papers.  It has been really interesting to work in a journal with not-blank pages.  I've had to re-adjust my thinking.  On the other hand. I think my pages look richer and more interesting.  Lots of pros and cons.

1-star-wm
On the lower right (the star, etc.) is a loose page I made about a year ago and simply glued into my journal.

1-starDetail-wm
I painted the little journal shape on a brown paper bag and then cut it out and glued it into my journal.

1-starDetail2-wm
The little tags are samples and experiments.  I love that they now have a home in my journal!  (The script writing is my Cursive Alphabet stencil.)

2-pattern-wm
I made a large foam stamp that seamlessly repeats.  Once I had stamped it, I decided that the spread was done.  No journaling, no nothing.  Just pattern.

3-head&heart-wm
I wanted to create a really simple face and not worry about making it look good.  This kind of Buddha-esque figure emerged.

3-detail-wm
It's a bit heavy handed, but I really like the head and heart connection.

4-yellowface-wm
This journal spread just has a single entry.  Some days I have a lot to say.  I like to work out my thoughts in my journal.

4-detail-wm
I really like the way the pattern behind her head turned out.

5-tickets-wm
This is another spread without any journaling.  I cut a whole bunch of tickets (using this die) from tags I had previously decorated.

5-ticketsDetail-wm
I like how using the same shape seems to unite all these disparate pieces!

6-peacocktix-wm
I didn't want to cover up the pretty piece of paper, so I just used a few tickets along the edge.

6-Detail-wm
Sometimes my art journal is just about making something pretty and playing with shapes and colors and textures.

Hope you got something done in your art journal this week!  Here's the linky list:

Thanks for stopping by!

PS: I'm looking for some new guest posters!  If you're a regular linky list sign-er upper to Art Journal Every Day, and you'd like to do a guest post, let me know!

  • I so agree, sometimes just creating a page works for me…everything I want to say often just gets stuck in my head and the page with no words expresses my thought…never have liked writing!

  • Loving those repetitive shapes and how you get so much bang for the buck using up older tags. I would love to do a guest post for you.

  • The page with the different pattern tickets is so cool and the one with the foam stamp pattern. I’ve done a few more pages in the book that I made in your class at A.E. I just keep painting and adding layers to it and I’m loving the texture.

  • Boy Julie! You never seem to lose ideas for journal art. I wish I were as good as you. I guess my muse must have gone on a vacation or something. I tried so hard yesterday to make a nice resist using Elmer’s glue and some water colors. I thought the paint was suppose to “resist” the water colors I had painted over it, but it turned out to be a big mess. And when it comes to the writing, my mind is a total blank! Could you lend me your muse for a while?
    Love ya
