If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here. All of the previous posts can be found archived here. There is a flickr group for sharing right here. Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day! No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week and you've blogged about it, or put it on flickr, please leave a link in the linky list at the end of this post. Thanks!
Today I wanted to share some more pages in the journal that I made for Book Club in June. I've been trying to find the right pen to write on these densely textured pages and have discovered that a plain old ballpoint pen seems to be doing the best job. Plus it's waterproof!
The other pens I used on these pages include a Sakura Pigma Micron, Faber-Castell Pitt Pen, and the Uniball Signo white gel pen. The pen tips on the Pitt Pen and Pigma Micron got really chewed up.
Do you have a favorite journaling pen?
Here's the linky list for this week:
Thanks for stopping by!
I love the bright colours on these journal pages. Your pages always seem so rich – so many things for my eyes to feast on!
Having had many pens messed up by trying to use them on top of acrylics, I now prefer Uniball fine deluxe waterproof pens which seem to write on most things without becoming horribly clogged, and a Papermate liquid paper pen for white highlights or writing.

Love your pages, Julie – my favorite pen at the moment is a sharpie paint pen (black and/or white).

Metallic gold marker is my favorite for accents, and my fountain pen for text (which I can paint over with gesso or white acrylic).

So beautiful pages so inspiration for me again and again! I write with Posca black pen because it works very well on paints inks etc…….
I’m a little shy to write in English but I’m a great fan of you…;o)
I’m always looking forward for your newletters……
Thank you Julie….

I love reading about the pens. I bought my first Copic Fineliner ($10 pen?!) It lasted about 4 hours until I ruined it writing on gesso! I’ll try a gel pen or ball point pen next!

My newest addition to my journaling pens collection is the Pilot G-2 medium in black. (Comes in blue and red as well in the fine point.)

I write on the white page and then I cover it up. I usually write with a pilot pen not sure which one. If I write on the painted part I use a permaopaque pen (?sp).

Gorgeous pages, Julie. Too man pens on my desk at the moment, but mostly I’m reaching for my Posca paint pens lately. Never occurred to me that a plain old ballpoint is waterproof!

Timely timely timely – as usual. I am massacring my pens on my altered ledger journal. I did NOT know that ball point pens were permanent ink. Well now that I think about it – of course they are! Are we talking BIC?

Always always love seeing your journal pages – so inspiring!
Ach! Pens! They are the bane of my existence! I can’t seem to get a fine tipped pen of any sort that lasts for very long. Yeah, I’m using lots of media, but still! The Pitt brush tips do really great, but I rarely want to do my regular writing that large. I’m so gonna try the ballpoint. If that works I’m gonna come kiss you in person! 😉

Love seeing these pages, they remind me of doing the ’30 Days in your Journal’ course with you last November, happy memories!
I’m forever wrecking pens in gesso or paint, but some of it is my own fault – I get too impatient to wait for it to dry!
I’ve just treated myself to a NASA Space Pen – a type of biro that is meant to write in all sorts of conditions including over grease and even upside down. I’m hoping that this will be the solution for me.
