On Tuesday I showed you the outside of the brand new art journal that I made inspired by Shereen LaPlantz’s book “Cover to Cover.” Here’sanother look at the cool cover. (I’m sorry to say that the photograph just doesn’t do it justice. In real life it’s shiny and textured and covered in tar gel. Just so lovely!)
When I put this book together I decided not to use plain white watercolor paper (my go-to surface for my art journal). Instead, I thought I’d experiment with using a variety of printed and painted papers I had laying around. Here is just a very small sampling of the pages inside this luscious book:
All the papers I used in the book are experiments, tests, scraps from other projects, paper I put down to protect my surface, etc. So I have no issue with messing them up or covering them up. I love that when I open my art journal there won’t be a big blank white page staring back at me. Rather I’ll have a base to start from! I can’t wait to wrap up the journal I’m currently working in and move on to this one!
If starting with a blank page intimidates you, consider making a journal with pre-painted pages so that you don’t have any blank pages to scare you away from art journaling!
