If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, all the posts can be found here. Please read this post first. There is a flickr group for sharing right here. Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day! No need to finish anything or even like it. Just play! Linky list for October is right here.
I will be opening my new online class "30 Days in Your Journal" for registration on Monday! I'm super excited about it. It's a class unlike any I've ever taught. It's full of techniques and ideas, but more importantly it's focused on the thought process. Why did I paint that red? How do you find the words to journal? I hope that those of you who register will find it an empowering experience! And now on to today's subject….
In my purse I have a small moleskine sketchbook and a mechanical pencil at all times.
You never know when you might want to write something down or draw a quick sketch, right? And while I don't necessarily call it an "art journal," in many ways, it is. There's art in it and there's writing in it.
I practice my lettering and my drawing.
I use it to jot down my to-do list.
I draw sketches for scrapbook pages.
It's a great place for writing down directions, phone numbers, and collecting a few notes about the week.
I like to sketch art when I go to museums.
This past weekend I found myself surreptitiously sketching my airplane companions to pass the time.
Carrying a moleskine in my purse is an easy way for me to incorporate art journaling into my every day. Just a pencil and a notebook and a few minutes of stolen time.
If you've been on the fence about art journaling every day, give the notebook in your purse a chance. You just might surprise yourself!
Thanks for stopping by!

Awesome idea Julie! I love your airplane companion sketches!

Well, that Moleskine and a pencil ONLY makes it quite simple and no excuses, doesn’t it?!
Love this post …a real thought – provoker as in: “What’s my next excuse? Sorry, doesn’t work. Next?”
Looking forward to Mon’s info on 30 day journaling class.
Enjoy the weekend.
Cheers~

Its not like I don’t have a small moleskine or two laying around, that could be put to better use than taking up space in a drawer. Great idea Julie!

Yay! I do this, too! Lots of to-do’s, sketching ideas, journaling thoughts, etc. I like looking back at old ones, too. Very historical. Also, I like going “old school” to pass the time–no Angry Birds for this girl! Lol!
