I've been in work, work, work mode lately.  Late last night I decided that it was time to sit down and scrapbook just for fun.  I grabbed my August Cocoa Daisy kit and got to work with a favorite photo from Chicago.  Here's what I came up with:

Chicago-sm
I love that I managed to fit so much journaling in!  One of the most wonderful parts of not being part of any design teams is that I no longer have to think about showing off product.  So I feel like I can just tell my stories and scrap the way I want to.

ChicagoDetail1-sm
The only things I ended up using from the Cocoa Daisy kit are the patterned paper and the stickers.  I always clean my needle after stitching through stickers, because the adhesive gunks it up.

ChicagoDetail3-sm
Those fabulous yellow letters are from my stash, and I used the Balzer Designs "wonky circles" stencil in 6×6 to create the background.

ChicagoDetail2-sm
These little tags are one of my favorite parts of this layout.  I'm kind of tiny tag obsessed as of late.  I love using them to make little embellishments for my page.

So there you go.  A couple hours of "me" time with a very happy result!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Quite awesome! Did you use the hipstamatic app on your iPhone? I need to get a photo printer like yours. It seems to do such a great job, and being able to print and scrap on the spot as creativity hits–so worth the $! Santa? Are you listening??

  • Hey Julie!
    Your work is always amazing!
I wanted to share a tip with you! I purchased the CPS emag, called Collage in Color, and I just finished watching your tape transfer. You mentioned that inkjet doesn’t work for that technique. I use my inkjet images! The secret is to use a fixative first. I use cheapy hair spray (AquaNet baby!!!). Just spray and let dry. Do the tape transfer technique as usual and you get great results. Just have to be a little softer at removing the paper.
Thank you for all you do!

  • Gorgeous page! I love how you did the journaling. I’ve tried freeform journaling before and it never seems to look right. I usually end up drawing lines underneath it. LOL.

  • Well, I just looked into the shipping from my shop and its $12.39 First Class with an indeterminate amount of time to get there.  Otherwise its $30.95 Priority Mail which takes 6 to 10 working days to get to British customs.  Any chance you could share shipping with someone else who might be interested in buying some stencils?

  • Thanks, Julie. Do you think it would be appropriate to ask people on your blog if there’s any UK folks want to order some templates from your shop and ship together? I don’t mind co-ordinating at this end (sending the templates on to UK addresses from my house). We often miss out here in England due to such mega shipping costs and import costs too. No worries if you don’t think it’s a good idea. Your templates may eventually start turning up in shops or online stores over here.
    Appreciate you!
