Welcome to day seven of stamping inspiration and giveaways!
For seven days I will be giving away one of my brand new stamp sets from Canadian stamp manufacturer, Stamping Bella! All of the stamps are specifically aimed at art journaling. Of course you can use them for lots of different things, but my intention in creating them was for you to use them when you art journal! If you'd like to win today's featured stamp, leave a comment answering the question of the day (find it at the end of this post). You must answer the question of the day if you want to win! On Thursday, May 12, I will post all seven winners!

Today's featured stamp set is "Julie's Words to Live By."
This is a set of *twenty* journaling prompts! And I'm going to get on a bit of a soapbox here. I am an enormous champion for journaling. For really writing out your story and your thoughts. When I teach beginning scrapbookers I always tell them: "A picture is worth a thousand words, but everyone's thousand is different! So share yours!" I think it's really important to write. It's therapeutic! And it adds depth and interest to everything you create! But I also know that lots of people get stuck on the writing thing. They don't know where to start.
Well let me start with how I got the idea to create this stamp set. In 2009 Ali Edwards did a post of prompts on her blog intended to get you journaling and scrapbooking about your daily life. Here's the post. At the time, I did this art journal page based on some of those prompts:
It came together so quickly and easily because, thanks to the prompts, I knew exactly what to say!
More recently I noticed that Tina Aszmus had started blogging by using simple word prompts (here's an example). And it got me thinking once again about how much easier it is to start writing when you've got a starting point! I hear from art journalers all the time who say that they love splashing paint around, but really don't do the journaling part of the art journal. Well, here come "Julie's Words to Live By" to the rescue!
I've used them a few times already this week:
You can also make little squares out of the words:
(I can envision making big frames from multiple stampings of the words too!)
And here they are inside of "Julie's Perfect Circles."
I can definitely see using these prompts in my art journal, on a lot of scrapbook pages, to make a mini book, while traveling to get the whole family journaling about the trip (stamp some cards and hand them out for each family member to fill out), and just in general to get me started when I feel stalled!

Mmm, tough question today. Each of the stamps has so much appeal. I think I will need to go with the labels, because I can see just how much these can be used in my own journalling. I love them as a background, but would most likely use them to highlight words or events as I tend to do a lot of writing in my journals, too. 😉

If I can only choose one, I would have to say the Large Paint Splat stamp is my favorite! I just love the way a little paint or ink splatter looks on my art journaling pages and your stamp is amazing!

The stamp set that I chose as my favorite is the butterflies,because they are so versitile, you can color in them, you could probly even journal in them. they can be black and white, or colorful whichever your choice. however I love all your stamp sets, everyone has a very good reason for being…Thanks Julie, you are the best….

Oh what a difficult question!!!! I LOVE them all Julie! I have the paint splat stamp and have been using it ALOT! So it’s definitely a fave. I really like the butterflies but after seeing the journal prompts today I think they are my new fave! I have a hard time writing things down so these are perfectly brilliant! They are all so great but for me it has to be the words to live by – no matter how I was feeling – low, blue, sparky, off the wall even – these words would get me going.
And also however uninspired I felt I could not fail to get journalling with one or more of these prompts!!

hard to choese a favorite! the words are great, and i could certainly use some writing prompts. i feel like that area is falling behind in my journal. but i think if i were in the store tryng to decide one to buy i would get the circles. just because they are so open ended!!

hard to choese a favorite! the words are great, and i could certainly use some writing prompts. i feel like that area is falling behind in my journal. but i think if i were in the store tryng to decide one to buy i would get the circles. just because they are so open ended!!

All are so wonderful but I have to choose your Journaling Labels.
Not only do I love the shape but you can do all sorts of designs with them – short & sweet journaling, as a background, accents like a ticket or tag embellishment…

All the stamps are great, but I’m partial to the ink splats. Sometimes its hard for me to get the ‘random’ look I want without making more of a mess than I’m willing to put up with. That splatter stamp would be cool.

I think your perfect circles would be my favorite because it looks like anyone could be so creative with them. I can see using them in a variety of ways. I really like how you used them in todays video on top of the tissue paper, more like a textural, layering element. You inspired me to trace circles the other day since I don’t have this set (yet!) but I think being able to stamp it would be so much more appealing.
That being said, I am partial also to your “words to live by” and think they made great prompts . . . I’m really torn between the circles and the butterflies! I was just amazed at what you did with the circles, which got me thinking about a 100 other different ways to use them. The butterflies are just plain cool!! I have SO, SO enjoyed this series Julie..thanks for sharing.

Today’s set is my favorite. Words are always my jumping off point for journaling or art. I love to put a word down or a poem on a piece and see where it takes me. It might eventually be covered up but I always know that it’s still there.

I seriously love all of them but the one I have to have first will be the paint splatters. I love using paint splatters on my layouts but I don’t always bring my paints with me to crops and such but I always bring my stamp inks.

Definitely the “words to live by” because they appeal to the journaler in me. A close second is the circles though because I love, love, love what you do with circles, Julie! You’re awesome inspiration, girl!!

I would havve to say the words because they can lead you in so many different directions in your journaling. Just putting one word on a page would send you and anyone looking at it in different directions. But at the same time it gives the feeling of the page with out anything else. I also love the splats. They say fun and disorder.

I to feel that telling your story is therapeutic and I believe that telling your personal story is part of your heritage, something that we are fortunate to pass on to others in our family because our story informs our children’s story and our nieces’ and nephews’ story and our neighbors’ story, etc…. I also love “Julie’s Words to Live By”. Then there are the circles and houses and… I do think my first purchase shall be the butterflies.

They are all amazing but I think that today’s words are the best only because when I saw them I immediately had a picture in my mind of how to use them and lo and behold, you did exactly that on the tag. They are a perfect inspiration for a page.

That’s a tough question. I like the circles, the butterflies and the scallopy houses, but after seeing what you did with each set, I like them all. Really, I just like your general creativity!

Oh , that’s a hard one. I like them all. 🙂 But since I have to pick, I would go with the journaling prompts because they also so versatile plus they would help out when I’m journaling. Quite often, I get stuck in a rut when I’m writing. So I think they would be great for that. I also love the paint splat!

Well, I was going to say scallopy houses, but then the butterflies flew in saying they felt neglected, but the printed prompts (how I love typewriter font)distracted me, so I almost chose them. BUT, sometimes, you want to complete a project and not have to wait for it to dry, or you have a moment of genius and don’t want to get dirty, it could be really useful. And, I love interesting stamps, and this one can have so many interesting uses!!
