In my explorations of more commercial style art (for all that art licensing stuff) I decided that I needed to start making some sweeter, less dark and twisty, faces.

Paintedface
And fully embellished with some Prima goodies:

She definitely has a sweeter, kinder look than some of my previous efforts.

I'm always looking for ways to make the edges of my canvases look attractive and I really like this one.  I wrapped the edges of the canvas with some leftover strips of Prima canvas Mist-a-bles.  It's such a nice clean look and stays within the canvas realm too!

Fabulous earrings!  The key to wisdom, perhaps?

So what do you think?  Do you like the friendlier face?

  • I like your other faces. They have more personality than this one, indicating that they express the “real you.”

  • Love the title and the canvas wrapped edges! I never thought your other faces were dark or twisty though. But I guess with faces you’ll want a wide range since people like images they identify with.
    Looks fab as always! 🙂

  • I love your painted girl with her sweet face! I am a new follower so haven’t seen your previous “darker” girls, but I’m sure they were just as nice! People have varied tastes, so I am sure there is room for both types!

  • New girl looks like she’s not as passionate & interesting as her predecessors. At a party I’d rather chat to the other girls. Hth.

  • Julie, Being different is what makes your art stand out from the crowd. I am sure that there will be plenty of people who will love any face that you paint. This lovely girl reminds me of my beautiful blue eyed blond daughters yet I relate to thoughtful (<--read moody) brunettes. Hope all went well with your trip and licensing efforts. I for one will be first in line when the products go up for sale. Penny

  • Julie, sweet girl is cool, but I like what you normally do. I think you were expressing more feelings. I do hope though that sometimes you feel happy and not as depressed as your normal style. I think I like the darker versions because they express me a lot of the time, but I would never let it out. Please do not loose who you are.

  • Hi Julie. I agree that your art stands out because it is ‘all yours!’ It’s such a divine expression of your personal self. I can see your style in the softer-looking, blue-eyed blonde, as well as I see it in the dark-haired girls. I think it will be interesting to see different sides of your art style as you explore and discover them. Going commercial may give you reason and opportunity to expand but after following your blog for a while now, I believe “Above all, (you will) be true to yourself.” 🙂

  • I really like how you put the edging around the canvas. I personally like the dark-haired girl better but I think that’s because I can relate to her.
