I was absolutely delighted when Bethany invited me to be a guest designer for Shimmerz. Guest Design post is here.
As you can see from the photo (taken from their blog header) they are the makers of sparkly paints and sprays. Long time design team member Lucy Edson (though she's not on the team anymore) once informed me that Shimmerz has been around much longer than Tattered Angels (makers of Glimmer Mist). But they don't generally go to CHA or seem to have the same kind of distribution, so they get a bit lost in the shuffle. In fact, I only heard of them because of a design team search.
You see long, long ago — okay, well not that long ago because I just looked it up and it was February 2009 — I applied for the Shimmerz Design Team and was rejected. So what a delight to be asked to guest design for them a year-and-a-half later!
I made this layout:
The tags are coated in lots of yummy Shimmerz. But check out the rest of the details first:
No patterned paper on this layout. Painted tags, fabric (the green scallop above and the flowers and leaves below), felt, and a doily!
I love the rolled fabric roses. I backed mine with green felt and I like the way it kind of disappears into the leaves.
The title was hand cut from cardstock and stitched down.

I WANT!! This is exactly up my alley. I like the other projects, but I tend to be drawn to more “juicy” colors and textures as opposed to the distressed and vintage look.

Julie, this is uber-cool. I don’t have any Shimmerz products, but I do have Perfect Pearls and Pearl-Ex. Will either of those work as the resist part? I also have Twinkling H2Os but I figured since those are used with water, they would run when you use the spritzed watercolor. Am I correct?
