I wanted to play along with this week's challenge on the Studio Calico blog: Create a project using a grid design.

Burgerjoint-sm
I kind of love the way it turned out.  Simple, simple, just photos and story.

BurgerjointDetail2-sm
The title was stamped and colored with watercolor paints.

Each of the journaling squares was stamped with a number stamp, using very light colored ink, and then I painted the photo squares with orange watercolor paint.

Here's what the layout looked like before I added the photos:

I almost didn't want to put the photos on!  It just looked so darn cool like this!

I used to find so much inspiration in being forced to use certain products.  Nowadays I find freedom in not having to use any!  I am on an ever evolving artistic journey and this is just another step in my travels!

Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. I thought that this post by Kayla Lamoreaux on the Scrapbook Update blog was really interesting.  It's all about creative burnout.

  • That is so cool! I look forward to seeing what all you create without using a lot of product. We have recently moved to an area where there is no local scrapbook store, and shipping costs prohibit me from ordering too much over the internet. It is so refreshing to see what you create with just a minimum of supplies. Very creative!

  • very cool layout. Love the painting and the open lettering on the title. Was that done with a stamp, template or freehand?

  • I love your layout! I was wondering what brand and which font letters you used for the title. I saw you using it on a layout for Scrapbooking m.m. magazine too (the one about a summerday in the ballpark). I really love the letters!

  • I love this layout. I keep saying this and I know you might get tired of it, but you are such an inspiration! My friend is a big Cathy Z fan and my friend’s layouts are very simple. I always thought mine had too much color, or too much stuff, just plain too much. When I look at your work, I feel very liberated and inspired. Thanks again
