Here is this week's Pencil Lines sketch:

Tamar- Sketchsm
And here is my interpretation of it:

BeNobodyButYourself-sm
The sentiment is inspired by one of my favorite quotes (from e.e. cummings):

"To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting."

The background is paint on white cardstock.  And then I hand cut the letters for the title and added my photo.  I don't know why, but while I was making this layout I thought. "Wait!  Am I allowed to do a layout with no product?"  And the answer, of course, is yes!  But I've been working for scrapbook companies for so long that it felt all sorts of wrong!  How about you?  Do you have mental taboos when it comes to scrapbooking?

Thanks for stopping by!

  • I really like this LO, and love how the quote relates to what happened in reality -that you let yourself be yourself and weren’t pressured to use product.:-)

  • If you want to participate in a challenge they always seem to want new product. I love my old product! This seems to be my stumbling block. But I am finding that I love paint (a medium for me) and watching you work with paint has been inspirational.

  • Hi Julie!
I was so happy to meet you while teaching at CREATE! and be in the Green Room of QATV Season 7. I love your work.
Like you, I’ve never met an art technique I didn’t love.
Looking forward to crossing paths frequently. Will you be in Houston?
    If so, let’s get together!
