Some answers to questions:
Q: Where did you get that mask of the girl/woman that you out your To Do list in?
A: I made it from a magazine page! I made this video for a guest post on Ali Edwards’ blog last year. It explains how to do it.
There are three techniques on the video: toilet paper tube stamping, magazine silhouettes, and paint splattering with a toothbrush.
Q: What is the right size journal to get? I know it’s personal preference, but the big one seems too big, but the little one seems too small…
A: Ah, a Goldilocks question! A lot of people make their own journals because of this very same question. And because watercolor journals are expensive. Linda has some great posts on how to bind your own journals together. That said, I’ve been eyeing this journal:

Q: It was nice you put a Google translation bar to your blog, very helpful … you can tell all your artist friends to do the same? We, the “foreigners”, we’d love it! We would learn more.
A: For those of you who might not know, you can translate my blog into any language by clicking on the drop down menu on the upper left corner. You can also translate my blog or any blog using the following two methods:
- The Google Chrome browser has a translator built in. If you navigate to any site not in your own language a little bar comes up in your window. It detects the language being used and asks you if you want to translate it into your own language.
- If you subscribe to a blog through Google Reader, under “Feed Settings” you can choose “translate into my language” and that blog will be automatically translated into your language!

what’s funny is I read one of the pieces as saying “ruin four or five everything” (before zooming in on it and realizing there was more to it!) and that was actually an AWESOME message for me- I’ve been working on a series of paintings and making giant mistakes on each one trying to find the right colors and shading. It sort of gave me permission to keep experimenting without worrying about not getting it right the first time.

Yes, art journaling week IS awesome! I have a couple of moleskines that are journals but not watercolor…so I’ve been stumped about how to use them and don’t really want to buy more stuff. So imagine how excited I was to find your idea about taping together a few pages and gesso-ing them. Thanks, Julie, for the inspiration. Can’t wait til the weekend to try some of the other ideas.
