Paper Crafts

Prima, Prima, Prima…more CHA-Summer 2010 Projects!

I played with Prima's new collection "Paisley Road" and here's what I made:

My favorite detail is the flowers.

PaisleyRoadFlowers
I decoupaged scraps of a book page onto the brightly colored flowers.  In the photo above you can see that I've done three of the flowers and three flowers are still "plain."  And here's a peek at one of the flowers on the layout:

I really love the way it turned out!  As for the leaves, I cut them from some Paisley Road paper and then stitched the whole design down.

The title was hand cut from cardstock.  I wanted something really black and there were too many different surfaces for paint to look clean.

I had one flower left and used in on this layout:

You can see the details below:

Fabulous new stencils from Prima!  Yay!  I added some fancy machine stitching too.

Love this large colored rhinestone flower and leaves!  It was the perfect background for my decoupaged flower.

Next up, I tried out the new "Jack n' Jill" collection.  It's a very cutesy collection, but I made it work for me.

I love those wavy lines of rhinestones.  I'm going to have to get about a million of those.  They're so cool and different and dare I say…masculine?  Yes, I believe that if pink rhinestones have a masculine side, this is it!

The photos were taken using the hipstamatic app on my iphone.  I used a portion of a long quote (rub-on) on both sides of the photos.  You can see the "dream sweet dreams" in the photo above.  You can also just sort of see the airbrushing I did over a brand new Prima stencil!

I painted the inside area of the chipboard with two colors of watercolor paints — the same colors I airbrushed the background with.  The three daisies are rub-ons.  They were part of a longer chain of flowers, but I wanted to keep the chipboard piece simple and not overwhelm it with girly-ness.

I had the opportunity to play with some of Prima's brand new mid-release pearl swirls too.  They're a mixture of pearls and beautiful glittery flowers.  Check out what I made:

The photo (a self-portrait I took on the airplane) is matted with a bunch of flowers I hand cut from several Prima papers.  And I laid those gorgeous swirls right on top of them.

So pretty, right?  The birds were part of some of the flower clusters.  However I cut out the butterfly…

…and added some rhinestones to create the body of the butterfly.  I painted the title and then typed the journaling around it.

The layout has a very soft and romantic feeling.  This next one has a slightly more playful and gritty feeling.

When I saw the mural I'm standing in front of in these photos, I lunged at it and demanded that my photo be taken.  I love murals and I love the beautiful photo backgrounds they create!  As for the details of the layout, I covered the center of the large doily with some patterned paper and it creates a nice clear focal point.

MyFutureIsSoBrightDetail2-sm
You can see that I added some red paper roses to the beautiful pearl swirls with their glitter flowers.  And to coordinate with the red flowers…

MyFutureIsSoBrightDetail1-sm
…I added red letters.  I love how this layout is red and green but not about Christmas!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Love the decoupage flowers. Thanks for that idea. Your work is so lovely. I always get great ideas. Now if I would just get off my butt and “do” instead of “think.”
You are a very bad influence for someone who is on a budget. I want to run out and buy those curvy rhinestones.
