Fascinating comments on yesterday's post.  Thank you to everyone who left a note sharing why you do or don't art journal.  I want to write a few thoughts down in response, but I'm running short on time and it's getting late.  So I thought I'd share this layout instead and get back to the art journaling train of thought tomorrow.  See you then!

A week or so ago I played a fun game over at Studio Calico.  We starting a "scraplifting" chain.  Essentially, each person would lift the person above them.  I posted right after the very sweet Michelle (aka ravenea).  I think her artwork is so free and lovely, so I was delighted to lift her!

This is her layout:

And this is my lift:

I guess I'm obsessed with airbrushing these large pink titles, huh?  I just love the look.  I think I need some more stencil letters — all different sizes!

Items I lifted (in case it's not obvious):

  • I loved the two square photos!  I wish I had some black borders like you see on Michelle's photos, but I didn't.  So I went with white.
  • Her wonky hand drawn border looks so good, so I added a stitched border to my layout.  I think it really helps to frame the layout, especially on a light colored background like this one.
  • I liked her banner.  I mean, who doesn't like a banner?  I made mine from a mixture of pennant die cuts and scraps of paper and then stitched it down.

Thanks for stopping by!
