Quilting

The One Where I Almost Went Splat

I wanted to share a small quilt I made for the "Journal Quilt" class I'm teaching at The City Quilter.  The first class is on Friday, May 14 and I can't stand waiting until then to show it off to my students, so I'm showing it to you now!

The quilt is a combination of tape and an old paint rag.

And what about the title of this post?  Well, I took the quilt onto to my terrace to photograph.  The quilt is very lightweight.  It was a windy day.  Well, you can imagine the disaster that ensued.  The quilt started to blow.  I went to chase it.  I should have put the camera down or let the quilt go and just float over the railing of the terrace.  But, I didn't.  Let's just say that the quilt, the camera, and I almost all ended up 17 flights down on 8th Avenue.  I had to sit down for a moment after that and remind myself to be much more careful!  Eep!

But it's just so pretty, I didn't want to let it go.  Ah, the things we do for art!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Julie, you must have an angel watching over you. Glad that you did not get hurt as well as lose your beautiful quilt.

  • Oh my goodness! Julie my stomach just flip floped at the thought of you going over the edge (that is totally something I would have done too) emotions first, logic hindsight!
It’s a beautiful quilt, your class is going to be awe.
