This month, my "Journal Quilt" classes at The City Quilter did an Artist Trading Card (ATC) swap.  Let me show you the ones I made:

AllCards-sm
The base of each of the cards is old paint rags I've fully saturated and retired from mopping duty.  And now here's a look at each of those ATCs, up close and personal:

I had so much fun making these ATCs – mixing up hand stitching and machine stitching, paper and fabric, and adding lots and lots of glitter!  I worked on them for about a week in fits and starts.  I would sit and hand stitch for a while.  Then when my fingers were sore, I would add some machine stitching.  I let all the glitter glue dry overnight and in the mornings, beads would find their way onto the mini quilts.  (I definitely was thinking of them as mini quilts more than anything else.)  I kept leaving them alone and then adding more texture of a few more embellishments.  I think my favorite is the one with the bull.  He came off of a bottle of wine some friends brought to our Passover seder last Tuesday night.  They feel kind of lived in and I really like that!

And now here are the ATCs that I got from my students in return:

All
Individually So many lovely ideas and wonderful little pieces of art!  Lots of paper fabric, hand printed cloth, and beautiful fibers.  And best of all, I get to keep a little piece of art from each of my too too fabulous students!

Thanks for stopping by!
