I've got some random bits and pieces to share today.

1. Here's a quick card I made for the hubs for Valentine's Day:

ValentineCard2010
(I didn't realize that little birdie was even on the table until I looked at this photo!  How cute!)

2. Jennifer McGuire had a link on her blog to the product below:

Studio 3 Solutions
It's a storage cubby for pens, which are supposed to be stored on their sides.  I love it!  Totally genius.  It's from a company called Studio 3 Solutions.  They say that a single tower (one five compartment section) will hold 120 Copic style markers (24 per cubby).  I'm seriously tempted to buy some…the only thing stopping me is my lack of counter space.  Right now all my pens are stored away in a drawer and I just don't think the cubbies would fit in there.

3. To answer a question from Monday's post:

On the party 33 layout (Happy Birthday, too!), how did you make the dotted background at the top? Inking or spraying over some kind of stencil?

I used a mask to keep everything contained to the same area, but the dots were made using punchinella.  It's sequin waste and basically you use it as a stencil.

4. The "official" announcement is up on the Scrapbook Memories TV website:

New this season:

Julie Fei-Fan Balzer appears as resident artist and interviews other designers on the “artist to artist segment.”

I'm really excited and looking forward to knowing what you think of the new "artist-t0-artist" segment!  Scrapbook Memories TV airs here in Manhattan on channel 25 on Mondays at 3:30pm.  You can check here to see when it airs in your area!

5. I've got another before and after layout for you.

AllThePrettyGirls-original
AllThePrettyGirls-sm
Which one do you like better and why?  I'll give my opinion after the weekend!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • I like the 2nd one better because the 1st one is very, hmmm, monolitic? On the 2nd one the background breaks for just “that bit” that adds the “wow” factor. (Sorry for my poor English wording.)

  • I like the second one better- somehow the repeated colors and style ground the circle- while in the first one the circle seems kind of floating around. Awesome one!

  • I love your card!
Another one for the second page: my eyes go to the title and the photo naturally, in the first one I had to search for the main point.
    Great LO BTW 🙂

  • I like the second one because of the off shape of the circle it seemed to be off center or floating oddly before and with the little bit in the right bottom it seems to ground it and draw your eye to the photo more than all the busy pp.

  • I like the 2nd layout – that little layer of embellishments on the bottom helps draw your eye all around the page, and helps the title stand out a bit more.

  • The second … the cluster on the right creates ‘tension’ on the piece so it is much more interesting. At least to me. 🙂

  • I like the second one because the added embellishment grounds the layout, and keeps the circle from looking like it’s just floating on the page. Unless that’s the look you were going for in which case, there’s nothing wrong with that!
PS Thanks for the info about the punchinella!

  • I prefer the second but then again, I have a real issue leaving empty space on my layouts. Me and negative space haven’t met, yet :o) I always struggle to be happy if I have too much negative space.

  • I like the second one, the butterflies (I’m butterfly fiend too) in the corner give the idea that you had to ‘adjust’ the circle size to allow for it instead of because the picture juts out – LianeZ
