A new sketch went live at Pencil Lines yesterday.  Here's the sketch:

Sk173_B_Feb07
And here's my layout:

ILoveMyNerdyDude-sm
It's a little hard to see, but I basically turned the sketch on its side.

Notice how I used red very strategically in this layout: the button, the title, the flash card, and the sticker behind the focal photo.  The red draws the viewer’s eye around the layout and keeps things from being too monochromatic.  Also, the stick pin acts as an arrow pointing towards the focal photo.

Confession time: The journaling was done with my brand *new* cursive typewriter.  Yep, it's true.  Crammed into this little New York apartment are now two typewriters!  How ridiculous am I?  And yet I couldn't stop myself from buying the cursive one.  I tried to talk myself out of it.  I looked for a font that looked like a cursive typewriter.  But I didn't see one.  So now I own two typewriters.  It's a sickness, I tell you!

And speaking of retail therapy…I couldn't stop myself from buying this adorable stamp set:

NYCstamps
The stamps are super cute (especially the taxi cab), but I'm kind of giggly happy about the little fabric bag.  I feel like I might have to  find a place that sells adorable mini linen bags and decorate a few!  Is it wrong to buy something because the packaging is the cutest thing you've ever seen in your whole life?

I almost walked out with this set too…

Birdcagestamp
…but I restrained myself and ended up buying this milk can stamp instead:

Milkcanstamp
I'm always looking for a milk can stamp, but I've never seen them before.  Barbara, at The Ink Pad, was kind enough to order one for me!  Speaking of The Ink Pad, I'm going to be teaching two classes there in the next few months.  I'll post more once I've gotten everything straightened out.

Finally, I'm working on some super secret projects for Scrapbook Memories TV this week.  We're going to be taping the next season at the end of the month, so it's all about coming up with some fun ideas and then creating all the step-outs and instructions and all of that fun stuff!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Oh, I think I would have fallen for the temptation and gotten those cute bird stamps too. A cursive typewriter – I didn’t even know such wonderful things existed! How awesome.

  • I would have had to stop myself from buying up all these cute little bags of stamps, too! Just spent some time catching up on your blog–my word you have been a busy girl!! Didn’t want to stalk you with a thousand comments, so I’m doing one long one here. LOVE that free stitched flower with the text and wash over it. Loving all the masking tape work. I’ve seen this a bunch of times, but for some reason it just never made *sense* to me until I saw you do it–like using it to tone down a paper, etc. Love it! And I love all that Prima work you did–amazing!! Thanks so much for sharing, tons of ideas to brew over here!
    Hugs!

  • thank you for all tips and inspiration. i’ve had my grandson with me for a few weeks and i really have only had time to pop over for quick peeks. i feel like i’ve missed out on quite a bit in just a few days.
i love the little linen bag and the stamp sets.
hope you have a happy Valentine’s day!
ps. i just popped over to The Ink Pad and when i saw that she said they are the only stamp store in NY (in Greenwich Village) i realized i was in there the last time i was in NY. it really is the cutest little store. i left with a little bag full of goodies.
