CHA – Winter 2010: Day One (Part Three)

First up, a brief correction.  Margie Romney-Astley's new product line is called "The Girls' Paperie" and her kit club is called "The Girls' Loft."

Now on to the business of the show!

Can you believe that we're still on day one?  I took almost 700 photos on the first day of CHA.  Since I knew that I'd be moored to the Sakura booth for days 2 and 3, I wanted to cover as much of the show as possible.

Maya Road had some fun new things and some old favorites as well.  I love their canvas albums!  (There was quite a bit of canvas around the show.  That was definitely a trend – fabric, sewing supplies, etc.)

Nat, who is on the Tattered Angels team, took me for a tour through their booth.  They have new products from Heidi Swapp.  And three new types of colorants: glaze and glam and chalkboard.  So there was lots to see!

I looped back to the Ranger booth to take some more Melt Art Designer Challenge photos and ran into Sally Lynn MacDonald and boy-oh-boy is she tall!  I'm 5'8", but she is really tall.  And super nice to boot!  I had one of those ridiculous fangirl moments where I couldn't believe she actually knew who the heck I was!

And here are a few more detail photos of the Melt Art Designer Challenge (isn't it amazing what you can do with UTEE?!):

I had to hit up American Crafts to see the new Dear Lizzy line.  There has been so much buzz around this line and I wanted to see it for myself.

Hilariously, I realize now that I mostly took photos of the projects and not of the products!  Ah well.

Graphic 45 had a bigger booth than usual.  But still lots and lots of treasures to be found.

One of my favorite things from the show was the burlap canvases from Canvas Corp.

They had other fun fabric products as well….

Crafter's Workshop had some *amazing* stencils which I must have!

I caught up with the very talented Charity Hassel at the October Afternoon booth.  Here's a pic I snapped of her (on the right) and Lucy Edson:Lucyandcharity

And that's it!  It's finally here, the end of day one!  Whew!

Come back later as I've got a few more CHA posts planned for the rest of the week:

  • All about working in the Sakura booth (a very different perspective on the show)
  • A little behind-the-scenes post about the business of CHA
  • Some wrap up thoughts on the CHA experience and looking forward

Thanks for stopping by!

  • WOW…again! I for one am glad that you took lots of pics of the projects, the products I can look-up online. I just love the way you explain the layout of the show and the booth size, it REALLY makes me feel like I was there (at least as a fly on the wall);-)
    Love the canvas items.

  • Great pics, Julie. I’m so bummed I didn’t get a chance to meet you at the show. I was out there with Emma’s Paperie and we were just drooling over your projects. Were your ears ringing??? LOL.

  • Thanks for sharing your photos. I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts once you get home and have some time to digest all you’ve seen … you’re favorites, products that didn’t live up to the hype, surprises.
The canvas products look really interesting. Off to go check out their website!

  • yeah huge crush on those stencils!!!
Also a request – when it all the excitement of CHA has quietened down a little, could you do a mini book class or tutorial. I have to do a minibook on behalf of my family for my Grandmother’s 90th birthday and I am in a bit of spin because I have never made a minibook before. thanks loads.

  • I hop by over your blog by chance and I totally love your coverage of CHA. The best photo… enough of people and products. good balance. And now my little girl got to yank me out of the chair.. but I am seriously glued to your blog posts. I keep scrolling down and down. And loving them more and more! Thanks, Julie. By the way, I am Chinese, does your middle name means ‘extraordinary’ when translated to Mandarin? Very cool!
