Phew.  Five days in a row of blogging.  Sick of me, yet?  😉

Here's tag #3 from Mr. Holtz:

6a00e39827d9ad883301287605f4a2970c-800wi
And my version:

Tag
I was lucky enough to discover a pack of glossy cardstock in my stash (the background is alcohol inks on glossy cardstock to create a plaid).  I was worried that I didn't have any, but lady luck stepped in!  And some of the details:

HammeredBrad
Hammered brads are always so cool and grungy looking.  I tried to ding the washer a few times as well.

RibbonEtc
As usual, I didn't have all the supplies Tim used.  So, I used thin black ribbon instead of twine and a Type Charm (which is from the Tim Holtz line).

JumpRing
Extreme close up (larger than life) on the jump ring.  It was gold and I tinted it to a more coppery color with alcohol inks!

Stamp

Okay, a confession: I may have gone to the Ink Pad to drop off some class samples and ended up buying some Tim Holtz stamps while I was there.  Maybe.  In any case, that stamp is a version of one of my favorite Einstein quotes: “Knowledge is limited; but imagination encircles the world.”

Watercolor
I wish I had the splatter stamp that Tim used today, but I settled for watercolor droplets instead!

But, wait!  There's more!  Here are some recent art journal entries:

ThenYou'reFound-sm
HopeTruthLove-sm

Underneath that tree is buried a secret:

Magazinefigure
This horrible, ugly, terrible girl thing.  Ick!  She's buried under that tree.  I just hated her so much that I painted over her and started again.  But I wanted to share it here because I think it's important to share the mistakes and the successes, you know?

FlowerCircles
HaYouCan'tCatchMe
I carved some new stamps for these pages:

HandCarvedStamps

There's something so zen and lovely about cutting into that soft rubber and creating an image.

HandCarvedStamps2
That flower on the right is rather large, just under 4.5 inches.

Thanks for stopping by!

  • I wasn’t really feeling the twine/jute on Tim’s version but the thin ribbon on your’s is going to my fix for that. Thanks for sharing. I think Tim would be proud!

  • This is all so beautiful Julie.
A couple of questions: how did you create the plaid background with alcohol inks? I have 3 bottles and have no idea what to do with them…
And how do you make your own stamps? Where do you get the rubber? Can I use another material? Do you carve them with an xacto?
Yes! 5 days in a row!! Please keep them coming! Everything you put up on your posts is so inspirational!
