I saw this on the Craft blog:
and then clicked through to High Snobeity:
"MUJI partners with iconic building-block company LEGO on a super fun
new concept. Together they’re encouraging us to think outside the
blocks (horrible, I know) by punching LEGO-sized holes in paper. The
rest then becomes obvious – but wow – how innovative is that? Perfect
really. Available November 27th at MUJI Japan – just in time for the Holiday season. US and European MUJI locations have yet to confirm stock."
What a cool idea! I love the concept of adding paper to legos and making wonderful creatures and structures. This is definitely something I would have gone crazy for as a kid!
And now onto day two of Tim Holtz's "12 Tags of Christmas." His tag:
This one was problematic. Not only do I not own some of the supplies used (basically all of the metal items), but I couldn't figure out a way to approximate them with stuff I have around. So, I simply went in a different direction! I'm going to have to order the "foliage flowers" he used to make that metal rose, because wow! What a cool technique!
Here's my tag:
Um…all those times I told people, go ahead and just pull the stamp off the backing. There's no way it will rip! Oooops. It ripped. Sad, sad, sad.
I clearly have a very different stamp collection from Tim Holtz. And if you'll look at the red arrow in the photo above, you'll see that it really made a difference on this one. I stamped a frame and embossed it with a light color of Distress Embossing Powders, just like he did. But my frame doesn't show at all. His is very clear. I think maybe it's because my stamp was a very thin line drawing and his was bolder. I probably should have used the smaller frame that the word "today" is in. It's a bit bolder. Ah well, you live and you learn!
As I mentioned, I don't own any of the flourish flowers, so I made this guy instead.
- The base is a flower hand cut from a book page.
- The next layer is textured grungeboard hand cut into a wonky circle and covered in Perfect Pearls and Distress Ink.
- Then I've used a washer.
- And finally a long fastener.
Thanks for stopping by!

Very cute the lego stuff. And I love how your tag turned out. You know, I think I find that stuff I stamp with rubber stamps emboss better than stuff I stamp with clear stamps. I don’t know the reason…thought maybe it was because you can really push hard with the rubber stamps and make a bolder image. Who knows…but wanted to throw that out there.
Bummer on the ripped stamp…I haven’t done that yet but I’m sure at some point I will. :/

Love the lego idea. Your tags are looking great. A friend wanted me to play along, but I admit I haven’t. I’d have to go outside of the Christmas theme and for some reason I just don’t feel inspired by them. I know, I know… I should be shot.
I’m sorry your stamp tore. I’ve had that happen to me before too on a very similar if not the exact same stamp.
Happy creating!

Awesome tag Julie.
I’ve ripped a few stamps along the way – and I wasn’t even rough.
