You better have a sweet tooth because this month, Label Tulip is all about sugar!
This month's challenge was tough for me because I have a "salty tooth."
kits all have vintage candy names, I thought it would be fun if we
created a sweet little challenge (pun intended).
Make cupcake picks, create a page about candy or sweets, make a recipe
book, whatever. Just have your project center around something sugary
and sweet!
Nevertheless, here's a darling little candy holder I made:
Although, notice that the "candy" is actually cough drops! It's all I had in the house! Here's a detail shot of the little sugar chipboard hanging inside the cone:
And I used glitter glue (from Sulyn) to hide the staples I used to keep it all together!
Now, this is an "eleventh hour" layout. It's the last layout I made and I wasn't sure whether to include it or not:
I love it, but it only uses a few items from the kit (the cardstock, the jeweled brads, and the little patterned paper ruffle). The background was created with alcohol inks and a brayer, plus a little bit of watercolor. The text is stamped with that set of stamps I carved myself. Here's a closer look:
Next up, is this lovely layout:
I can never leave well enough alone. At first, the layout was just what you see on the right side of the layout. It felt a little too simple to be me. I added the stamping (Label Tulip exclusive stamp, btw) and stitching down the side. Oops. Now it felt weird and unbalanced. Cue the paint.
Contrary to good sense, I painted the red swirls after the entire layout was together, right over those letter stickers!
I am happy to say that this kit cured me of my Sassafrass Lass fears.
I've always felt that the bright pop and kitschy feeling of the papers and embellishments just didn't work with my style. I am a believer now! The crossword paper, cloud sticker, and letter sticker are all Sassafrass and I love them!
But, one of my favorite details from this layout is the stitching:
I stitched through the chipboard buttons and flowers on my sewing machine with a heavy duty needle and I love the look!
I would say that an average layout takes me between two and four hours to complete. Sometimes I can zoom through them a bit faster and sometimes it takes me a tad longer. This one took forever!
It's not labor intensive, I just kept changing my mind! I must have moved stuff around on this layout fifteen times! It never really settled into "right" for me. I love this part:
But, I just feel like something is still off. Maybe the journaling shouldn't be on top of the photos? I don't know. Sigh.
Moving on, this layout is so very "me."
I love, love, love these brads from Chatterbox:
They are so vintage-y cool!
So, there you have it! Lots of Label Tulip loveliness. Check out the gallery to see what the rest of the Tulip Girls created!
AND, did you know that if you upload your creations (with the kit or not) to the Label Tulip gallery and one of them is chosen as the "member lift," you'll get a $10 gift certificate to the Label Tulip store! The only way you can win is to enter!
Thanks for stopping by!

I love this post because it is so human. I love that you move stuff around a lot and that you try something on a page and then realize that it is unbalanced and need to do something else. That is just so cool. And now I feel such a connection. Thanks.
